USA Seek SoFi Statement in Dead-Rubber Decider
Already crowned Group D winners with six points, the USA host Turkey tonight at SoFi Stadium in a match that’s about momentum, not qualification.
US Squad Targets Clean Sweep Before Hometown Crowd
The job is done, but the statement is still to be made. The United States walk onto the SoFi Stadium turf tonight knowing their World Cup knockout berth is already secured — back-to-back victories over Paraguay and Australia have settled that. What remains is an opportunity to set the tone. Facing a Turkey side already eliminated with zero points, the host nation can enter the Round of 32 with maximum confidence — or with unanswered questions. The 10 p.m. kickoff in Inglewood will matter.
Six points from six in the group stage would represent the perfect send-off into the knockouts. Head coach Gregg Berhalter faces a pleasant selection dilemma — how much squad depth to test while keeping intensity high. The SoFi crowd, one of the loudest in this World Cup, will demand their team deliver. For fringe players, this is 90 minutes to make an unforgettable case for a starting spot when the pressure is truly on.
Montella’s Men Play for Dignity and Future Form
Turkey arrive at SoFi Stadium with nothing but pride left. Losses to Australia and Paraguay extinguished their knockout hopes early, but Vincenzo Montella’s squad has a different kind of motivation — individual performances with an eye on EURO 2028 qualification beginning in the autumn. Several players will push hard to impress, making this a genuine contest despite its lack of stakes on the table.
For the USA, this final group game is a rehearsal for the stage ahead. Win convincingly at home, and the hosts send a clear message to every team still alive in their bracket. The party at SoFi starts tonight — and America wants to give its fans something to remember.
